The last decade has witnessed important changes that are shaping our economic picture.
Between 2014 and 2024, Slovenia's GDP grew steadily. According to Eurostat, GDP in 2024 will reach around EUR 60 billion, up from EUR 49 billion in 2014. The visuals clearly show that GDP has been rising in recent years, confirming the strength of our economy.
Employment rate also increased significantly over the period. In 2014, it was 66.5%, while in 2024 it reaches 75.2%. The graphs clearly illustrate how the employment rate has risen to the highest levels in Slovenia's history.
Major industries, such as automotive, pharmaceuticals and information and communication technology have experienced remarkable growth in recent years. According to 2024 data, these industries contributed to 30% of total GDP, an important indicator of innovation and competitiveness of the Slovenian economy.

Automotive industry
The automotive sector remains the most important export industry, accounting for around 20% of total exports. Slovenia is known for the production of automotive parts and components, which are exported to many European countries, from companies such as Revoz, TPV Automotive and Akrapovič.
Pharmaceutical industry
Slovenia has a strong pharmaceutical sector, led by Krka and Lek. Pharmaceuticals are an important part of exports, along with research and development in biotechnology, cell therapy and medical equipment.
Information and communication technology (ICT)
Slovenia is a major player in the ICT industry with niche solutions in advanced systems for telecommunications, security and Industry 4.0. Companies, such as Comtrade and Telekom Slovenije, develop technology solutions for global markets, including artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
Electronics and electrical engineering
The industry focuses on the development of niche products, such as fuses, medical laser systems and mechatronic components used by the automotive and medical industries. Companies, such as Domel, Gorenje and Iskra, export advanced solutions for smart homes and industry.
Chemical industry
Chemical products, including plastics and pharmaceutical ingredients, are key exports. Slovenia is particularly strong in the production of pharmaceutical chemicals and technological solutions for healthcare.
