Slovenia is a paradise for hiking and mountaineering, with more than 10,000 kilometres of marked trails of varying levels of difficulty. From Alpine peaks, such as Triglav, to the uplands and lowlands trails, the possibilities for hiking are almost endless. Hikers can enjoy beautiful views, mountain huts and natural parks, such as the Triglav National Park. The importance of safety and the use of appropriate equipment during hikes is particularly emphasised.

Slovenia offers a number of thematic trails combining nature, cultural heritage and education. Among the most popular are the Drvošec Educational Trail by Lake Cerknica, the Godrnjač Trail near Bled and the Circular Trail of Military History in Pivka. These trails are designed to offer hikers a unique experience, during which they can learn about history, nature and local legends in an interactive and educational way.

Slovenia is a great destination for ski enthusiasts. It offers several small, family-friendly skiing sites, with slopes of varying difficulty, suitable for beginners and experienced skiers. Ski resorts, such as Kranjska Gora, Rogla and Krvavec, offer groomed slopes, ski school services and additional activities, such as après-ski events and entertainment programmes for children. There is a single Skipass, which gives access to several ski resorts throughout Slovenia.
